Professional athlete and fitness coach Angela Davis shares the importance of gratitude and how it can help you close the gap between where you are and where you want to be. What are you hoping for? Praying for? Believing in? Standing in the gap for? What are those doors that you're waiting to slam wide open? "It's important," she says "to be grateful for all of those things in advance."
Throughout these 21 Days of Motivation and Movement, you are guided through workouts with a motivational element to start. Being thankful for the ability you have to put one foot in front of the other is a gift you must honor. We must understand that gift, and the many others that are inherent in all of us, and use our gratitude to overcome the challenges that face us. "If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you," says Angela.
The definition of gratitude is being conscious of the benefits you have received. For Angela, her gratitude lies deeply in her family, especially her parents, whose constant support and encouragement helped her to realize her own dreams. And now as a wife and mother, Angela is even more grateful for the beautiful gifts, like her two children, that she has received.
In this workout, Angela demonstrates REVERSE LUNGE WITH KNEE LIFT, keeping your hands at your heart for prayer and going all the way back for a reverse lunge and then kicking your knee high. If you need a modification, she offers a toe tap instead of a lunge. The workout is 30 seconds on one side, followed by another 30 seconds on the other side; it begins when the clock starts.
Never forget to be honest in your abilities and do what you can do. But never let your miracles become ordinary and say thank you for all that you have. That is gratitude.
