In 2014, six-time Olympic gold medalist Amy Van Dyken severed her spinal chord in a brutal ATV accident, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Amy, however, wouldn’t let the shocking accident stand in her way.
The competitive swimmer has big things planned. Her first goal is to find a cure for spinal chord injuries. Next, she plans to get back in the athletic arena. “I want to become a rock climber. I want to start getting more competitive in another sport—rowing, kayaking, who knows. That’s what I see for the future.”
