Brian McKnight: The Two Things You Should Know Before You Get Married

Famed singer/songwriter Brian McKnight and his ex-wife, Julie, were married for 13 years. Together, they have two sons, Brian Jr. and Niko. The couple divorced in 2003.

Since then, Brian tells Oprah: Where Are They Now?, he's taken a lot of lessons away from his marriage. "When you decide to make a commitment to someone," Brian says, "make sure that that person has everything you want. Do not compromise on one thing because it's those things that are going to get you through the tough times."

Here, Brian explains why compromise can cause problems down the road. Plus, he shares the other lesson he learned about getting married as a young adult.
