Evelyn Comes to Terms with Her Miscarriage

Just six weeks into her third pregnancy, Evelyn's joy turns to heartache when she learns that it isn't progressing normally. Her hormone levels are dropping instead of rising, and on the day of an important photo shoot, the doctor tells her that she will miscarry.

Evelyn's daughter, Shaniece, shares the news with family friends while her mother mourns the loss at home. "I feel like when something tragic like this happens, whether it's this or anything, I've learned that there's always something better to come," Evelyn says through tears. "And I guess that's what I hold on to, that, okay, it just wasn't meant to be."

The next morning, Shaniece goes to Evelyn's house to offer love, support and snacks. Evelyn tells Shaniece that she started having cramps a few hours earlier, which means the process was beginning.
