The first issue of Tiger Beat

Inaugural Issue: September 1965

Tiger Beat was the brainchild of Chuck Laufer, a high school English teacher who wanted to encourage more kids to read. The first issue—featuring the Righteous Brothers—hit newsstands in 1965 and cost only 35 cents.
