JoAnn Suspects That Something's Going On Between Curtis and Nyla

Now that Curtis and Nyla have made a truce, things are finally at peace in the Payne household. Curtis starts spending more time with Nyla—and even offers to help her organize things at the church. While they are there, Curtis expresses his admiration for Nyla and shares that she reminds him of Ella. "I mean, Ella just got a big heart. Always have. Got a good heart," he tells Nyla. "So do you."

Nyla is touched by Curtis' compliment and thanks him. "I mean, sometimes I don't feel like that, you know?" she replies.

"Yeah, I know," Curtis says. "But you do."

As the two are sealing their newfound friendship with a hug, JoAnn walks in. "What's going on here?" she asks in surprise.

Curtis and Nyla break their hug, and Curtis explains that he was helping Nyla out around the church, which causes JoAnn to raise an eyebrow. "Since when do you like to help?" she asks.

"Since I found out how special she is," Curtis responds.

"Oh, I see," JoAnn says. "That right?"

Curtis and Nyla then excuse themselves to take care of some more errands. JoAnn watches as they exit, giggling with their arms linked. "What the hell is going on with them?" she finally exclaims to herself.
