It's exactly what you want in a red carpet dress—it's got a powerful shape and silhouette, it's got a powerful color, and the big trend that she's doing really beautifully is really simple hair and earrings and makeup. The dresses are making the statements instead."

"Love the color. I think what's great about her, too, is she's kind of a full-figured gal and she always looks amazing on the red carpet. She knows what shape is going to work on her body, so she embraces her curves and she's not afraid to wear color. She's not out there wearing some dark navy blue or black."
Top 5: Sandra Bullock
Carson says Sandra hit it out of the park on the evening when all eyes were on her. The embroidery on her golden gown covered up any potential trouble spots, and the showstopper was understated but elegant. "It's like a liquid," he says.

"I didn't even recognize her because she plays such a boring, buttoned-up character in Up in the Air. She came on the red carpet in this beautiful, frothy, very pretty blush chiffon gown. I thought she looked amazing. Really pretty hair, really pretty makeup. It was all really soft and romantic."
Beautiful, but... Amanda Seyfried
Carson says this super-structured dress isn't the right choice for the young starlet's body. "She's young and gorgeous, and this doesn't show that off."

"She's wearing a purple, kind of like a can-can gown, and it's a can't-can't, I'm sorry. She looks amazing from the neck up, but when you get down to the bottom there's a lot going on. It's kind of like the dress is wearing her."
Handsome, but... Robert Downey Jr.
"The key with the guys is to keep it classic. Any time anybody does something nutty, à la Mickey Rourke last year, it's just like, 'Oh my god, what are you wearing?' You have to keep it really simple. ... Robert Downey Jr.'s like the best actor ever, but he probably needs a better stylist. His bow tie was big and blue and kind of Ringling Brothers–esque, which makes me not happy."

"She usually rocks it out and looks young and sexy even though she's 64. This dress looks kind of matronly. It looks mother of the brideish, and I almost didn't even know it was her. I was just kind of like, 'Who's the old lady?'"
