How an "Angel" Taxi Driver Saved This Former Addict's Life

As a way to escape the abuse and neglect she suffered as a child, Ester Nicholson turned to drugs and alcohol as a teenager. She soon found herself spiraling out of control and in the grips of a crippling drug addiction. In the above video, she tells filmmaker Jonas Elrod about the moment she hit rock bottom.

"My mouth started watering," Ester says. "I got that urge, like, that thing that happens when an addict is in the midst of an obsession. And I ran out of my house with no shoes on, and I hopped in a taxi."

After driving Ester for about a mile, the taxi driver pulled over and turned around. Watch what he said to Ester that she believes saved her life that day.
