Blue sky

Photograph by Ann Teliczan

Ada, Michigan
It was March, and I was so disappointed to wake up to snow until I stopped resisting and opened my eyes to see the beauty of the day. I am learning to accept life's gifts, even when they aren't what I was hoping for or planning on. This helps me as an artist because when you accept everything in life with gratitude, it is so much more rewarding and fulfilling.

I've named this photo "Light" because of the way the light comes through the tree's branches.

Frozen berries

Vermont
On December 11, 2008, an ice storm raged the state of Vermont, knocking out power supplies to many homes for weeks. When I saw the sight before me, I swear to God all I thought was, "How sad it is to know that the rage that dwells inside us humans will never ever leave behind anything as beautiful as this." Nature's rage, most of the time, doesn't destroy the spirit of a man, unlike that caused by the actions of an enraged mind.

Fog on the water

Hyder, Alaska
This was a morning in August. We walked out on a pier and the fog was just lifting. It was one of the most peaceful moments I've had in a long, long time!

Ice on branches

Photograph by Judy Winter

DeWitt, Michigan
On a blustery, snowy, Midwestern afternoon when spring seemed so very far away, I bundled up and bravely stepped outside to take a brisk walk. I quickly found this wonderful nature image that changed my perspective on the harshness of the winter season. I went back inside, grabbed my camera and discovered that nature's beauty was everywhere on that frosty and bleak mid-winter afternoon. I suddenly found myself more at peace with the season.

Snow on trees

Photograph by Kim Billetta

Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania
This winter picture was taken in our backyard woods after an ice storm. I was amazed how quiet the outdoors are when encased in ice. The ice was beautiful, yet dangerous. Beauty can be deceiving. I named this "The Frozen Forest." I hope that you enjoy it!

Sometimes we are "surprised by joy." In a flash (pun intended), this scene caught my eye while I was dashing out one Sunday morning.

Polar bear

Photograph by Cris Barber

Churchill, Manitoba, Canada
My husband and I recently went to Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. It's the polar bear capital of the world. We had the privilege to stay out on the tundra in the middle of the wilderness. We were surrounded by polar bears in their natural habitat. It was the most amazing experience. We're concerned for the welfare of these beautiful animals, and now we also really love them! It's something I will never forget.

This photo was taken just after sunset on November 13, 2009—Friday the 13th! I just couldn't resist capturing the gorgeous colors I saw when I looked out the window earlier this evening. What a beautiful end to my workweek! I just might try to paint this breathtaking scene!

I love the beauty and stillness and peacefulness of this photo. Even lacking bright color, which I usually like in a photo, it really adds to the calmness of this scene.

Photography is my opportunity to capture an exquisite moment in time during which nothing else matters except the beauty in my view finder. The view exists only for a split second and can never be captured the same exact way again.

Sun through the clouds

I have been a bad sleeper for quite a while, but I guess, in this case, the insomnia paid off. I took this photo on my hotel balcony in Atlantic City one morning at 5:45 a.m. I am so blessed to every once in a while be able to capture some of the beauty that surrounds us.
