When we think of the word betrayal, we often associate it with someone else—the friend or colleague who stuck a knife in our back. In this video, author and former pastor Rob Bell challenges us to instead look at the ways we have betrayed ourselves. When we become too attached to a goal or certain path, says Bell, we are actually limiting ourselves and our potential. We are taking away life's ability to lead and guide us where we need to be.
It is also in these moments when we are farthest off our destined path that we begin to point the finger of blame at others, blaming them for our missteps. We take the labels people give us as a result of our own choices and become angry at them, when in fact the fault is our own.
Watch above as Bell shows us how to surrender our gifts in order to lead the life planned for us. By opening up our imagination to the unknown, he says, we can live a more joyful life that aligns fully with our purpose.
