Amber Rose: No Always Means No

Season 1 Episode 108
CC
It's safe to say that Amber Rose likes to court controversy. Many know the actress/model from her past high-profile relationships. Lately, though, she is shaking up the status quo in a different and fiery new role: feminist. She engages Tyrese and Rev Run in a charged conversation about whether a woman brings unwanted attention upon herself by the way she dresses or behaves.

Tyrese suggests that if men make sexual advances toward Amber, she might be to blame for sending them the wrong message.

Amber is quick to shut down that notion. She unequivocally spells out why no always means no, delivering a powerful message about a woman's right to consent: "If I'm laying down with a man, butt-naked, and his condom is on, and I say, 'You know what? No. I don't want to do this. I changed my mind,' that means no. That means f*** no. That's it. It doesn't matter how far I take it or what I have on. When I say no, it means no."

Rev, coming from a more conservative perspective, shares a saying with Amber that he's found instructive: "Dress how you want to be addressed."

The comment doesn't sit well with Amber, who fires back, saying, "Oh, boo. No. That's not really realistic. Stop it."

Amber explains why men should respect women who take pride in their body and unapologetically enjoy their sexuality. She also attacks the double standard that has long existed where women who dress scantily are judged as being promiscuous.

"Society teaches us to be that way. You see a woman that's, like, dressed provocative, and you're just like, 'She's loose,'" she says.

Will her passion sway Tyrese and Rev Run? Plus, find out which misogynistic habit she confesses to being guilty of when she was younger.
