What Dr. Mary Neal Saw When She Died

In 1999, Dr. Mary Neal was kayaking in southern Chile when her kayak was pinned below a waterfall. She was underwater for 12 minutes and went without oxygen for 24 minutes. Mary says she died and went to heaven before coming back to life.

"I was still myself, and I was still very aware of everything," Mary says. "I could still feel the water. I could feel the water working on my body."

Mary says she also felt her spirit "peeling away" from her body. In the video above, she describes what greeted her in the afterlife.
