Season 1 Episode 105
Aired on 02/08/2015 | CC
In 1999, Dr. Mary Neal, an orthopedic surgeon, drowned in a kayaking accident in Chile. An EMT who was in her group resuscitated her, and despite going without oxygen for 24 minutes, Mary suffered no brain damage. Mary also claims she went to heaven during that time. Was there a scientific explanation for this, or was it a miracle?

"I have gone through the process of coming up with alternative explanations," she says. "Not only look into the idea of dreams and hallucinations, but I really did look into what happens when the brain dies."

Find out what she discovered in the video above.
