Filmmaker Jonas Elrod is in Colorado working with Amanda Lindgren. In July 2012, Amanda lost the love of her life when her boyfriend, Alex Teves, shielded her from a gunman's bullets when he opened fire in an Aurora movie theater during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises. Tragically, Alex was one of 12 people killed that night.

On the anniversary of the shooting, Amanda's family comes into town to support her during the difficult day. During the visit, Amanda's mother, Joann, gets emotional as she remembers Alex. "He taught our family what true love really is," she says in the video above. "He literally saved her life."
