Why Ruba Decided Not to Meet His Birth Father

After Ruba has second thoughts about going to Jamaica to meet his birth father, Uncle Spirit is anxious to know why. Ruba explains that, as soon as he arrived at the airport, he realized he didn't want to connect with someone who has never been a part of his life and who Ruba feels he's been doing fine without. Uncle Spirit wants Ruba to have the opportunity to bond with his father and learn more about his heritage, but despite Uncle Spirit's urging, Ruba is resolute in his decision.

"Look, I know all of you guys want me to meet my dad, but that's never gonna happen," Ruba tells him. "Honestly, that's how I feel. He doesn't deserve that time."
