Oprah opened the ninth annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards on Thursday with a powerful speech. As many of the most powerful and talented African-Americans in the entertainment industry looked on, Oprah expressed why she believed the event, which she referred to as a "sacred space," was an opportunity for the attendees to realize how they can be a source of wisdom to one another.
