Oprah at Essence Luncheon: "We Gather in This Space to Speak Each Other's Name in Praise"

Thursday, Oprah offered a few moving words to kick off the ninth annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards luncheon, a special event set to air on OWN Saturday, February 27.

Oprah started by saying, "I love this time because it's a time to come together to speak each other's names. And I just ran across that beautiful Pearl Cleage poem recently, and the idea that we gather in this space to speak each other's name in praise and raise each other up in celebration—that's a divine moment."
