According to Ava DuVernay, lauded director of Selma and award-winning filmmaker, "It's not about our fancy dresses" at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood ceremony. It's all about sisterhood.

While there are many negative societal influences and other divisive forces standing in the way of success for black women in Hollywood, Ava believes in the importance of standing together to break down those barriers.
