"A lot of us can't keep promises to ourselves, but we can keep promises to other people." — Oprah

Ready to start your own Spa Girls group? Here are some of the basic components the Spa Girls use—be inspired and get creative with your own!

The Spa Girls Mission Statement
We are a circle of friends who lift each other up, support, encourage, motivate, challenge and inspire each other to live our healthiest, best lives, to create adventure and to have big fun.

Spa Girls Jobs
 Every member fills a position:
  • Weight reporter
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Documenter
  • Events planner

Our Exercise Plan
Six days a week exercising with the group, one day of rest. A varied program: Runs three mornings a week; cross-training (using a treadmill, stair climber or bike) the other three days.

Daily Topic
Each morning workout will begin with a discussion of a Daily Topic, which then becomes the focus of the workout. For example:
  • When is the last time you felt joy?
  • What is your heart's deepest desire?
  • What would truly make you happy?
  • Why do you really want to lose weight?

Weigh-Ins
Once a week by e-mail to the group's weight reporter.

Our Food Commitment
Eat healthfully, following the Make the Connection plan. Limit alcohol to two drinks per week. No eating after seven p.m. Drink eight glasses of water a day.

Reevaluation
Every four weeks, there's a discussion about what's working and what's not. The Oath is updated accordingly.

Daily Renewal
Most people have trouble learning to take small steps and be happy with the results. Practicing daily renewal can help. Each day you can choose to improve yourself, break even or slide back. So before you get out of bed, do the following:
  1. Tell yourself today is the day you will begin taking responsibility for your life.
  2. Ask yourself, What will I do just for myself today?
  3. Look at the day as a blank canvas to fill with choices you will make: Self-esteem comes from making good choices.
  4. Visualize yourself eating healthful foods, working out and doing other good things for yourself.
  5. Think of ways to bring more love into your day (e.g., beginning sentences with "I love..." or making decisions out of love, not fear).
