How to Make Tai-Lights
When it comes to decorating on a budget, Trading Spaces' Ty Pennington practices what he preaches. His signature tai-lights, shown here, cost only $15 to make.
Ty and Oprah get to work making the lights. First, Ty sawed grooves into a piece of wood. Using fiberglass sheeting and Chinese placemats, he'll turn this into an elegant lamp.
Ty positions the first piece of fiberglass sheeting.
Next: another piece of sheeting.
Oprah helps by slipping the placemat into its groove.
Voila: after slipping a lightbulb in, the tai-light is ready to go. It's a
simple, Asian-inspired look for not a lot of money.
