Internationally acclaimed author Marianne Williamson answers your questions about spirituality, faith and the power of miracles every week! She'll share her wisdom to help you live your best life.
Q: Dear Marianne. I've been a fan of yours for years, most recently for your daily Miracle Thoughts. During a guided meditation, I had an aha! that didn't seem to fit. Here's the setup—I'm searching to find my calling/vocation, and I was instructed to follow the voice of my highest self. Well, my highest self said, "Be in this world but not of this world." While I've heard this more times than I can count, it hasn't always resonated (for more reasons than space allows). My sense is that there is more to it than what one reads in scripture. Please shed some light from the standpoint of A Course in Miracles.

From the perspective of A Course in Miracles, the mortal dimension is not our true home. We are material beings for but a moment in time, but we are spiritual beings forever.
Ironically, it is when we identify with our spirits rather than our bodies that we are most powerful on the material plane. Our overidentification with the world does not give us power within the world so much as it diminishes our power here. It makes us frightened and nervous and full of anxiety. It is when we know who we truly are—beings of love, sent here by a Divine Creator with the mission of giving and receiving love—that we are lifted to our highest talents and most potent skills.
I am doing a seminar on God and Career on May 22, by the way. Check www.marianne.com for details.
