How Raven-Symoné Stayed Out of the Tabloids

Season 4 Episode 411
Aired on 10/05/2014 | CC tv-14
In 1989, Bill Cosby introduced America to a pint-size starlet named Raven-Symoné. Raven joined the cast of The Cosby Show when she was just 3 years old, and went on to star in her own Disney sitcom, That's So Raven. Over the years, this Broadway and film actress has grown up before our eyes, and unlike many child stars, Raven-Symoné has managed to stay out of the tabloids.

Raven-Symoné, now 28 years old, credits her family for helping her to navigate fame. "My parents taught me to keep my private life private, to the best of my ability," she says. "I've learned [that] it's unnecessary to go to the most popular restaurant in the world when you have a scandal on your head and then get mad that someone's going to take a picture of you. That's your fault, Boo-Boo. Stay in the house."

In the above video, watch as Raven-Symoné tells Oprah what she's learned from troubled child stars who made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
