The Exercise That Helped High School Students Confront Prejudice

Season 4 Episode 326
Aired on 01/01/2015 | CC tv-14
Bullying is a perennial issue at high schools across the country. With Challenge Day, Monroe High School attempted to address the problem by encouraging teens from vastly different backgrounds to interact. Slowly, as a room full of high-school students stepped out of their comfort zones, they came to realize they aren't that different from one another.

Chris, one of the teenagers on the Oprah Show that day, apologized to Dorian, a teammate he had mocked for the color of his skin. Dorian says that was a big day for him. "To really see him see my point of view, it was truly amazing," Dorian says. "That moment was much bigger than just me and Chris because that same situation happens, I'm sure, all over the United States, all over the world."
