Our favorite mail-order option, New York's famous Murray's Cheese can overnight the renowned Lioni family's hand-pulled mozzarella anywhere in the United States. $8 per pound; MurraysCheese.com

The namesake cheese at the Dallas-based Mozzarella Company is hand-formed into half-pound balls, smaller bocconcini balls, and rolls flavored with prosciutto, sun-dried tomato, or basil pesto. $15 per pound; Mozzco.com
