Young music fans fell in love with Samantha Fox as the charismatic vocalist strutting around the stage in the “Touch Me (I Want Your Body)” music video. The British rock star first made her name, however, in an unlikely place—posing nude for the British tabloid Page 3 when she was only 16 years old.
Samantha tells Oprah: Where Are They Now? she first got in the modeling business at her mom’s urging. “I stopped traffic at bus stops and mom noticed that a lot of people were saying, ‘You should do modeling,’” Samantha says. “I was still very young, so we borrowed like a Victorian basque type outfit, all in white with little white gloves holding my bedside lamp on my face for lighting.”
On the back of the photo, Samantha’s mother wrote her daughter’s name, age and measurements. The photographer said, “Well, you’ve got the face of a kid, but the body of a woman.” Next, he wanted to take Samantha on a “professional” shoot. “He said, ‘Can I take some pictures at the end of the session? Just topless ones, and it would be really tasteful,’” Samantha says. “So I got on the phone to my dad. At first, he wasn’t too happy.”
With the permission of her parents, 16-year-old Samantha agreed to pose topless. The photos were published in Page 3, a popular feature in The Sun, the best-selling tabloid paper in Britain.
She didn’t realize quite how far that nude photo session would travel. “I went to school on the Monday, and I’m sitting on the school bus and there I was on Page 3 with my boobs, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, he lied to me,’” Samantha says.
“So, I was actually the youngest ever Page 3 girl, and my teacher found out, my headmaster expelled me from school. I went to a catholic school taught by nuns, so they weren’t too happy about that.”
