Above: On set, Oprah's spirits—and heels—were high.

It was a deliciously candy-colored day at New York City's Milk Studios, which had been temporarily transformed into a glamorous Parisian boutique. The inspiration came from O creative director Adam Glassman, who exclaimed that "the macarons from Ladurée and the shoe salon at Bergdorf had a baby." In celebration of all things fashion, T-straps and sling-backs mingled with chunky heels and stilettos. "I'm having a party!" said Oprah, kicking up her strappy Louboutins—but it was Gayle who was on cloud nine. Scouting for new additions to her collection of nearly 200 shoes, Gayle zeroed in on a pair of J.Crew pumps: "Are these my size?" (They weren't. Bummer!) But woman cannot live on heels alone. As Oprah likes to say, "There is nothing better than being comfortable. You have to feel good to look good." Maybe that's why both ladies slipped into flat footwear (for Oprah, slippers; Gayle chose her beloved clogs) when the cameras stopped rolling. —

Our editor at large never met a heel she didn't like.
