What Drove Kim Goldman Crazy About the O.J. Simpson Trial Coverage

CC | tv-14
Ronald' 'Goldman’s sister, Kim,' 'says she calls O.J. Simpson what he is: a killer. "During the case it used to drive me crazy to listen to people call the killer by his first name, as if they were drinking buddies," she says. Even news reporters got into the habit of using his famous first name. "They wouldn't even call him 'the defendant' or 'the accused,' it was just O.J.," she recalls. Kim was seated next to author Dominick Dunne during the trial, who covered the events for Vanity Fair. Unlike other reporters, Dominick had a very specific name for the defendant. "Dominick and I were sitting there and he said, 'Well, he's a killer, that's what he is. That's what he's called, he's a killer.' And that just sort of stuck, because calling him by his first name creates a level of intimacy and familiarity that I didn't feel was necessary or warranted, and I call him what he is," Kim says.
