D.L. Hughley Opens Up About Infidelity and His Son's Struggle with Asperger Syndrome

Season 5 Episode 310
Aired on 04/25/2015 | CC tv-14
When comedian D.L. Hughley married his wife, LaDonna, in 1986, he was a 22-year-old telephone sales rep making less than $4 an hour. After working the stand-up comedy circuit for years, D.L. skyrocketed to stardom as one of the Original Kings of Comedy and the star of his own sitcom.

Fame came with its own set of challenges for D.L. and LaDonna. In 2012, D.L. publicly admitted to cheating on his wife numerous times during their marriage. "I always thought it was part of being a man. I never thought it was a horrible thing to be or to do. I never felt like it was anything I was doing wrong," he says. "I think monogamy is what you give your woman so she don't leave."

D.L. and LaDonna were also tested when their son Kyle was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome when he was a child. Today, 26-year-old Kyle is a college graduate who, D.L. says, follows a strict routine every day. "Everything has to be the same," he says. "He goes to work at the same time. He eats the same thing."

While discussing his son, D.L. breaks down. Watch the above video to find out what brought this comedian to tears.
