The Truth About the Feud Between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey

In its 12th season, American Idol shook things up by making some changes at the judges' table. While music producer Randy Jackson remained a judge on the singing competition, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler were replaced by Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey—but the chemistry between the two female judges didn't quite go as planned.

Not long after the new judges were announced, media outlets reported on an alleged feud between Nicki and Mariah. In the above video, Oprah asks Randy for the truth about the offscreen drama.

"Uh, let's say that there weren't warm, fuzzy feelings," he says.

Complicating matters was the fact that Randy was friends with Mariah, whom he used to manage. Watch as he also reveals how he was affected by the tension on the set. Later in his interview, Randy explains why he left the judges' table and reveals the origins of his accidental Idol catchphrase.
