Bruce's Work Schedule Puts a Strain on His Relationship with Kina

Bruce has been a free man for just about a month and is working the same job he held at a clay factory while in prison. Although he's grateful to be employed, Bruce has yet to obtain his driver's license—meaning he must rely on his girlfriend, Kina, to drive him an hour each way to and from work. As a result, the 4 a.m. wake-up calls and the long trips with a newborn in tow are starting to take their toll on their relationship.

Bruce knows he needs to make a change to ease the burden on Kina and their baby daughter. "I am worried about the schedule," he says, "but, you now, I need to try to figure things out, because I could never go back to who I used to be."
