Nate Berkus' "Before" Tour of Iyanla Vanzant's Home

Aired on 11/29/2014 | CC tv-14
Fifteen years ago, Iyanla was on top of the world and appearing on The Oprah Show as a regular relationship expert. She bought her dream home, made a good living, wrote four New York Times best-sellers and even had her own talk show. Then, she lost everything, including her spacious home, her multimillion-dollar fortune and her marriage. Her beloved daughter Gemmia also died of cancer. Now, Iyanla has made a new dream come true for herself by purchasing the home she's named Villa Nova, which means "new vision."

Oprah has decided to surprise Iyanla with a whole-house makeover to celebrate, and she has just the man for the job: designer Nate Berkus. Walking through the 7,000-square-foot house with Iyanla, Nate knows he has a big job on his hands. "We're standing in four walls and a ceiling basically without a lick of your personality," he says. "I can't wait for you to walk through the front door and just go, 'Yeah this is what I wanted.'"

Join Nate and Iyanla for a tour of the home, find out Iyanla's decorating likes and dislikes, and see what Nate calls "the ugliest carpet in the world."
