Steve Harvey Describes His Emotional Breaking Point in a Hotel Bathroom

Before Steve Harvey got his big break on Showtime at the Apollo, he spent three years homeless, living out of his car while trying to pursue a career in comedy. It was a difficult period, and Steve says he reached his breaking point one day while washing himself in a hotel bathroom stall.

"I used to go to really nice hotels 'cause they had, like, washcloths," Steve recalls. "Well, I got soaped up, but a convention was in town and they had let out for breakfast, and so, for 45 minutes, it was just a parade of men coming in that bathroom."

Soapy and hiding in his stall, unable to leave to get more wet washcloths, Steve broke down and began crying. Watch as he describes the emotional moment in which he nearly quit chasing his dreams altogether.
