LL Cool J Highlights a Common Thread in Master Class Interviews: Honesty

Season 6 Episode 604
Aired on 09/09/2017 | CC tv-pg
We've all seen interviews that elicit generic responses and canned soundbites, leaving audiences with little more than surface-level takeaways that don't reveal too much. This isn't the case with Oprah's Master Class, says interviewee LL Cool J.

As the rapper, actor and entertainer explains in this digital exclusive, Master Class avoids this common interview trap by asking the kinds of questions that demand authenticity and thoughtful responses. "These questions are really soul-stirring and really about who you are as a human being. If you're going to come here and try to fake it, it probably wouldn't work for you," LL Cool J says. "A lot of interviews are not really about that."

Watch as he elaborates on how audiences have come to accept the "pretending" and lack of truth in other interviews, and why he firmly believes in the power of authenticity.
