Episode 310: "Why's Hattie Happy?"

Hattie's been uncharacteristically happy lately, and Linda has taken note. Unbeknownst to Linda, Philip paid off Hattie's debt to the IRS, and Hattie promised she wouldn't tell her daughter. However, Linda quickly deduces the source of Hattie's newfound contentment and confronts her husband about it.

Philip confesses, but he tells Linda that he believes he did the right thing by loaning his mother-in-law the much-needed money. Although Linda appreciates Philip's desire to help Hattie, she doesn't trust her mother and suspects that she conned him out of $14,000.

Has Philip been swindled, or was Hattie on the level?
