A Male Rape Survivor Bravely Stands in His Truth for the First Time

When he was 14, Ricardo was forced into having sex in a mall bathroom with a stranger. But that's only the first part of his traumatic story.

What happened after the rape is something Ricardo has not spoken about because of the shame and guilt he's carried for so long. Now, though, Ricardo has had Iyanla's support in the healing process and is ready to share with his fellow sexual abuse survivors how his rapist used the sexual act as a gateway to something else. "[He] told me if I was to do it that it would be some sort of financial gain," Ricardo says. "Then, he put me on the corner."

Admitting he became a male prostitute is a major breakthrough for Ricardo, and it also inspires two other survivors to share their own truths as well.
