Oprah to USC Grads: "Stop Comparing Yourself to Other People"

CC
Oprah urged the Class of 2018 at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism to embrace their true selves. "Stop comparing yourself to other people," Oprah said. "You're only on this planet to be you."

Oprah confessed to the graduates that she had learned that lesson the hard way. In her early years as a fledgling TV news anchor, Oprah said, she was more or less doing a Barbara Walters impersonation. It wasn't until an on-air mistake made her break character—and allowed her authentic personality to come through—that she learned an important lesson: "Your life journey is about learning to become more of who you are and fulfilling the highest, truest expression of yourself as a human being. That's why you're here."
