Heather Packer Recalls Racial Tension In 1991

CC | tv-14
Heather recalls her transition from Memphis which was predominantly Black to going to college in Chatanooga, Tennessee. At the time, the LA riots and the War on Drugs were happening. Heather recants the racial tension that was apparent in Chattanooga and recalls leaving band practice and being the victim of racism. One of the men threw a coke can and hit a band member, and Heather recalls the experience as learning “a hard lesson in the world.” Behind Every Man airs Saturdays at 10/9c on OWN.
