Nathan made famous a particular "problem-free philosophy" as the voice of the motor-mouthed meerkat Timon in the Disney film The Lion King. What's it like being the man behind Hakuna Matata? "Parents," he says, "bring children up to me and say, 'It's him! He's the guy—this is Timon!' The children look at me like I ate Timon. 'Who is this middle-aged man? Where's Timon?' They just look frightened.
"I got on the phone with someone's child and he said, 'Where are you now?' I said, 'I'm in the jungle' and he said, 'Are there phones in the jungle?' I said, 'Well, it's a cell phone. I have a three-picture deal with Disney.'"
