Little Cinnamon Heart Cookies Recipe
Rosie Daykin, author of the cookbook Butter Celebrates! and owner of the Vancouver bakery Butter Baked Goods, has channeled the flavor of spicy Valentine’s Day heart candies into adorable bite-size cookies.

Makes 8 dozen cookies
Ingredients
1 cup butter, at room temperature
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
2 cups flour
2 Tbsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. red pepper flakes
Red sanding sugar for decoration
Directions
Active time: 15 minutes
Total time: 45 minutes
Preheat oven to 350°. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a stand mixer, cream butter and confectioners’ sugar until fluffy. Add vanilla; combine. Add flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and red pepper flakes. Beat to combine. Wrap dough in plastic wrap; refrigerate 20 minutes.
On a floured surface, roll out dough ¼" thick. Using a 1" heart-shaped cutter, cut out cookies. Place ½” apart on trays. Sprinkle with red sanding sugar; press to adhere. Bake until golden around edges, 8 to 10 minutes. Transfer to a rack to cool completely.
