When Karen Peterson, who writes the blog 365 Days of Slow Cooking, accepted a challenge from a friend to make a slow cooker recipe using only products from the dollar store, she came up with this spicy chili.

Serves 6

Ingredients

  • 2 (13-ounce) cans of chili with beans
  • 2 (13-ounce) cans of diced tomatoes with green chiles
  • 1 (14-ounce) can of corn, drained
  • Sour cream, for serving (optional)
  • Cheese, for serving (optional)
  • Cilantro, for serving (optional)

Directions

Combine all the ingredients in 4- to 5-quart slow cooker. Stir until combined. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours, until flavors are blended.

Serve with sour cream, cheese, and cilantro if desired.
