Q. Sometimes I need a little extra support. Do any jeans offer that?

A. Who doesn't need a little lift every now and then? Fortunately, many brands are creating problem-solving denims that do some serious shaping and slimming. These five are engineered to achieve everything from smoothing to lifting to tummy taming.

Q. I hate stiff jeans! Is there a comfortable option that looks just as good?

A. Absolutely! Mavi has just released its Indigo Move collection, a line of knit-based denim available in skinnies, gauchos and these fantastic trousers, to name a few. The best part? Even though they're incredibly soft, they have excellent shape retention and won't stretch out. Plus, like your regular jeans, they're offered in various washes and equipped with functional pockets, buttons, the works.

Q. How can I get more wear out of my jean jacket?

A. I love a classic style because you can pair it in fresh, unexpected ways. Try layering it with a dress or skirt. It doesn't have to serve as outerwear; think of it as a cool alternative to a cardigan or a blazer.

Q. I'm petite and most jeans are way too long. Help!

A. You're in luck because this won't cost a penny. Create your own raw hem (a huge trend right now) at the perfect length. Here's how to DIY:

Step 1
Try on your too-long pair, fold hem under and mark the length you prefer. Remove and cut only one leg.
Step 2
Fold jeans in half and line up the legs. Cut the second leg to match. Use tweezers to loosen threads.
Tip:
Before you wear, toss in the wash for a naturally frayed edge.
