4 Simple Steps to Transform Your Look from Day-to-Night
The key to makeup that lasts all day is prepping skin first with primer (try L'Oréal Paris Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer). Then follow with a long-wear foundation (we like CoverGirl Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation) and concealer (a nice option is Maybelline New York SuperStay Better Skin Concealer + Corrector).
To reduce any redness, cover lids with a veil of concealer.
Line upper lids with black pencil (we're fans of Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencil Longwear Kohl Eyeliner in Noir Intense), keeping the liner tight to your lashes. Curl your top lashes and then apply a few coats of ebony mascara (Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara in Jumbo Jet is a good one).
Dust matte bronzer (such as Esteé Lauder Bronze Goddess Powder Bronzer) from your temples along your cheekbones. Smile and brush pink blush (try Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush in Rosy) high on the apples of your cheeks. "Blend it into the bronzer with a brush to avoid stripes," Wilson says. The result is a sculpted effect.
"Adding color to your mouth ensures that you don't look washed out, the way you sometimes can with nudes," says Wilson, who favors a transparent wine shade like NYX Butter Lipstick in Licorice), which is universally flattering on all skin tones (and a big trend for fall).
Working from top to bottom, create a neutral smoky eye with Dior 5 Couleurs Designer The Makeup Artist "Tutorial" Palette in Amber Design. Sweep the highlighter along your browbones and around inner eye corners, accentuate your creases with the iridescent peach, and dust your lids with the chocolate brown.
Retrace your black pencil liner, thickening it; line lower lashes as well. Brush on another coat of mascara, this time on bottom lashes, too.
Reapply your bronzer to create stronger contour of the cheekbones. "It gives a bit more dimension and drama," Wilson says.
Increase the intensity of your wine lipstick with a couple of swipes. Next, trace your mouth with a burgundy pencil (like MAC Vamplify Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Ms. Diva), feathering the line into the lipstick. Finally, put a little clear gloss (try Burt's Bees Squeezable Beeswax Lip Balm) on your ring finger and tap it on the center of your lips.
