This week you should focus on having authentic communication with your partner. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

• Are there things that you want out of your relationship that you’re just too scared to bring up to your partner?
• Are certain things bothering you about your partner that you’re too afraid to talk to him/her about?
  

All this week, practice letting out what’s truly on your mind. Remember, authentic doesn’t have to mean negative or harsh communication. Find gentle, productive ways of getting your point across and being heard. If you find yourself struggling with authentic communication, just ask yourself: What do I gain by holding my true feelings back?

This homework assignment may take awhile to work into your way of life, but it’s critical for a solid and healthy foundation for your relationship.
