A 22-Year-Old Beyoncé on the Importance of Knowing Your Limits

Aired on 11/11/2005 | CC tv-pg
Beyoncé was only 22 years old when she transformed into the Queen Bee we know and love today. Hot off the success of her debut album, Dangerously in Love, she stopped by The Oprah Show just as she was beginning to cope with being a global superstar.

"It's everything and way, way more," Beyoncé said, referring to her newfound fame. "It's really hard to have privacy. Sometimes, it gets a little overwhelming, but I now have learned to take time for myself, and I know my limits."

Beyoncé goes on to explain that she learned an important lesson from her heroes. "I saw a lot of celebrities that I admire and some of the things they went through, and I probably would have been there," Beyoncé said. "So, I said, ‘I have to make sure every year I take a vacation, and I have to make sure every couple weeks, I have days off and do things that make me happy.’"
