Oprah's Legends Gospel Brunch: "I Was Just Overcome by It"

Aired on 01/18/2015 | CC tv-pg
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the historic march for voting rights from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, Oprah hosted an inspirational two-day event to honor the heroes who were on the front lines of the civil rights movement. The weekend began with a private screening of the film Selma, continued with a glamorous night of dinner and dancing, and wrapped with an emotional gospel brunch.

The brunch, in particular, struck a chord with Oprah. "I was just overcome by, 'Oh, wow, this is it. This is what matters,'" she says. "I looked up and there is my neighbor, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia; they're in the spirit. And over here is David Foster and Magic Johnson, who was obviously, you know, feeling very moved by it all, and it was just a beautiful sight to see."
