Staying Fit on the Road

Scheduling exercise sessions while traveling can be tough, but finding where to do them is easy. These Web sites can help you locate pools, trails, and tennis courts all over the globe, and the sites are free (unlike those in-flight snacks).

Throw in your towel
Swimmers can track down pools in the United States, Australia, and Britain thanks to the directory on clubswim.com. Listings can tell you if the pool is public, heated, indoors, or outdoors, and you'll get a phone number and a map.

Run with the locals
Now there's an easy way to find where the natives walk, hike, run, bike, or even do open water swims. Mapmyrun.com, mapmyride.com, mapmywalk.com, mapmytri.com, and mapmyhike.com let anyone simply point and click on a Google map to sketch their favorite route—plus mileage—and publish them. There are more than 675,000 routes already posted.

Tennis, anywhere?
If you'd rather serve than be served, a new database from the Tennis Channel lists clay and hard courts all over the U.S. (thetennischannel.com/community). You can also plug in a zip code to find nearby hitting partners, clinics, camps, and tournaments.
