Yes it is!!! They don't make shows like that any more: shows with real characters who don't just spout silly jokes, people who grew and changed over the life of the series, hilarious events that were often real-to-life (does anyone remember Mary's terrible day when she had a run in her stocking, her grocery bag broke and her hair dryer died? It's my favorite episode of all time!) HARPO: Call me! I can still make it to the show on Monday!!!!

I am with you and looking forward to this show. I looked valiantly for many a year to have a studio space siplar to the one that Mary started with. But I liked how they allowed her character to grow in the show.

Why oh why has it not been picked up on TVland or Nickelodeon or one of the other networks in reruns?

I enjoyed MTM since the days of the Dick Van Dyke show.

I know! I feel like I'm going to see old friends again. I wish they'd be on all week, with clips.

There are a few shows that are well-written out there now - How I Met Your Mother is one. It's not MaryTyler Moore, but it's funny, and the characters are developed, and they grow and change.

Thanks for telling me about How I met Your Mother. I had gotten to the point of watching primariloy reruns with a few exceptions because of the poor quality especialy in comedy.

When I was a teenager (about 14) I used to go see the rehersals of the Mary Tyler Moore Show because my uncle played the part of Gordy the Weatherman (John Amos). Somehow, during the lunchbreak, I found myself all alone in the sudio. Valerie Harper saw me and invited me to go to lunch with her. You don't know what that meant to a 14 year old girl. She stopped a person on the street to take a picture of us (which I still have) with my camera. I met all of the cast members and each one was wonderful. But the special lunch I had with Valerie Haper will never be forgotten. Thanks Valerie! I can't wait to see the show.

I want you to know I always have enjoyed your uncle as a acotr. From MTM until now. Though he is best know for the role of James Evans on Good Times he was a shining star or the MTM Show, but my favorite was of him as the adult Kunte Kinte in the tv mini series Roots.

He was one I had always wanted to meet!

I love your experience!

Sheri,

Thank you for sharing that wonderful story with us. Also let me tell you how talented and gifted your uncle, John Amos is. I LOVED him in Coming to America and in Good Times.

He came to my small university, Mansfield University, in Pennsylvania 2002 I believe doing his one-man show, Halley's Comet. I never before seen such craft and obvious love for acting. He probably doesn't remember that night on that small university in the mountains of Pa, but that was a performance I'll never forget.

Please give him my best regards.

One of the best memories I had of my family was us watching this show together.

Great inspiration MTM show was. The connection between the actors/actresses themselves was incredible and you could not help but feel that when they were on air.

I so looked for to this.

I saw a clip of the preview on you tube. I must say, Oprah's 'cry face' is getting more endearing as the years go by...:x

Did anybody see Ed Asner kinda shrug off Betty White when she walked out and joined the others on the set? Betty kissed everybody there except Ed, and when Mary motioned for Ed several times to walk down and greet Betty you could see him nod his head and hear him say "nah"

I wonder if there is a tiff between the two?

I have always loved Mary Tyler Moore, and never missed her show. I'm looking forward to seeing the cast reunion today. I have been trying to find out where to contact Mary Tyler Moore since I read about her AHA moment in the Oprah Magazine, because I had the SAME experience. I was caught in stand still traffic in St. Louis, when a cattle truck pulled beside me. I looked over, and looked into the most beautiful brown soulful eyes of a cow on the truck......we stared at each other and BONDED. I haven't eaten meat since that time. When I get hungry for a hamburger, I eat a Boca Burger. When I read that Mary Tyler Moore had had the same experience with a cow, I was so happy to know that my favorite actress had a very similar experience, and I wanted to tell her about it.

what a wonderful show! I too loved Mary Richards and wanted to be her.

It is so sad that there are no comedy shows like this one anymore. I mean really funny with such great talent. I just want to mention that I do not think that Georgia Engel has ever been properly recognized for her talent she is a talented singer and dancer as well as a comedienne.

If you have caught her on "Everybody loves Raymond" you can see what I mean.

I absolutely love seeing them all together again on the Oprah show. Brings back some wonderful memories of an era of wonderful shows.

Yes my sister and I so looked forward to this "event". Here you have the entire remaining cast and you took 45 minutes to get them all onstage. The last five minutes was hilarous when they got to interact. Really, I know you're very proud of your producers, but didn't one of them have the ability to say "Hey, let's make the most of this. Let's start with everybody on stage so we have enough time to let them talk and reminisce?" Oprah, you have more money than God. You could have had a commercial free hour, or you could have had two hours like you did with Tom Cruise. This may be the last time these people are all gathered together and you wasted the opportunity. My sister called me in the second last commercial break to say just these same things I was thinking. And really, I know it was work to get the set together, but sets are just things. The people were more important. You could have saluted your crew here on the website and spent more time letting the cast talk. I'm so very let down.

To the entire cast and crew of The Oprah Show! Thank you so much for an amazing Show! Today's Show will most definitely stand on it's own, and Oprah - you have made it after all! I loved seeing the entire cast of The Mary Tyler Moore Show on your Stage in the re-created sets of the WJM -TV Set and in Mary's apartment as well! Growing up, I watched the Mary Tyler Moore Show religiously! Every Saturday night, I always tuned in to see what would happen in the WJM-TV Newsroom. I loved seeing Mary throw off her tam and I loved each and every single episode! Congratulations on a SHOW well done! Love, esther freedman, Toronto, Ontatio, Canada
