Q: I see that sexier, skin-baring suits are in this year. How provocative can I go?
A: I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Do the towel test. Bend down and pick up a towel as you would at the pool. If anything falls out, step away from the suit. Here are three spicy options.
Top left: Mild
Lining keeps crochet demure.
Gianni Bini, $99; Dillards.com
Middle: Medium
Cutouts reveal sexy slivers of hip.
96 Degrees, $76; JCPenney.com
Bottom right: Caliente
Looks racy, but more coverage than a bikini. Great for boyish figures.

Q: Like just about every woman in America, I wish my midsection were firmer. What kind of suits offer the best camouflage?
A: Look for ruching or draping, strong fabrics, inner mesh for shaping, and dark colors or strategic prints. Here are three little-in-the-middle options that will instantly make you look ten pounds lighter.
Top left: Hidden shaping technology smooths the tummy, while shirring hides wobbly bits.
Available in sizes 2-18 and up to a DDD cup. $159; LandsEnd.com
Top right: Features waist-minimizing Lycra spandex and flattering draping.
Magicsuit by Miraclesuit, $150; Miraclesuit.com
Bottom: The halter neckline, wrap detail, and stripes draw attention away from the stomach.
$107; LaBlancaSwim.com

Q: I can't find any fashion-forward mastectomy suits. Help!
A: Designers are stepping up their offerings for breast cancer survivors, and I'm loving these suits with an elegant take on the safari trend: The Anita Care number (left) has concealed side pockets for breast forms, an underbust support band and a higher-cut neckline, while the Veronica Brett suit (right) has interior breast form pockets along with a built-in shelf bra for support and flattering ruching. Both are well constructed and modern and will make you feel fabulous.
