Q. I love how shapewear makes me look (and feel) in my clothes—but I'm not so crazy about how plain and granny-like the undergarments can be. Is there anything out there that's pretty and feminine but still does the job?
A:I hear you. What's the point of looking good in a slinky dress if you have to avoid the mirror once said dress comes off? I believe everyone has the right to beautiful underwear, and shapewear is no exception. That's why I'm crazy about these pieces, which provide lift, support, and allover smoothing—while being beautiful enough to pass as flirty lingerie. I especially love the superchic control-paneled slipdress from the recently relaunched French lingerie line Scandale (far right)—it' so Elizabeth Taylor in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
