STEP 1:
Apply a neutral eyeshadow base over the entire lid up to the browbone to even out skin tone and increase makeup staying power.
The Expert Says:
Rather than using a wand to apply the creamy base (you'll get too much of it on your lids), tap it on the back of your hand and apply with your fingertip.

STEP 2:
With a black eyeliner pencil, draw a line as close as possible to your upper lashes.
The Expert Says:
Hold your eyelid slightly taut and use the eyeliner pencil to draw dashes (instead of one long line) along your upper lashes. Then, with a small eyeliner brush, smudge the dashes together. At the outer corner of the eyes, extend the line up a bit toward your temples.

STEP 3:
Curl your eyelashes.
The Expert Says:
Use the curler to grasp your lashes close to your lashline. This will prevent a crimp from forming in the middle, which is difficult to correct.

STEP 4:
A deep violet eyeshadow flatters almost every eye color. (Brush it on before applying two coats of black mascara.)
The Expert Says:
To make your eyes look more wide-set, apply the deepest shadow color to the outside of your lid, lightening it as you move the brush toward the bridge of your nose. A touch of cream highlighter on the center of your eyelids will soften the shadow and brighten your eyes.
Glam it up with a hit of shimmer on your lips.
